Brendan 's Free One-Day Basketball Camp
TO Benefit Greensboro Youths

Greensboro, NC – Greensboro native and center for the NBA’s Washington Wizards Brendan Haywood provided a free basketball camp at his former high school (Dudley High) in Greensboro, NC for about 200 youths on Saturday, August 4th. All food for the one-day camp was generously donated by Bojangles’ Restaurant for the second straight year.

“I’m happy to provide this chance for kids from my hometown to learn some basketball drills and skills to help improve their game” says Haywood.  “There aren’t many “free” basketball camps in this area but there are plenty of disadvantaged youths interested in learning more about the game. Most of the kids we’ll help are from single-parent families and probably couldn’t afford to attend paid camps.”

Haywood is in the process of starting a charitable foundation dedicated to helping kids from single-parent households. A few months ago in June, he teamed with the Greensboro Community Foundation to help provide six thousand dollars worth of books through a book fair for Greensboro’s Peck Elementary School.

Brendan’s Camp lasted from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Dudley High School (located on 1200 Lincoln Street in Greensboro, NC). Contact Livis Freeman, at livisfreeman@4ourfans.com or 919.389.3486, for more information.
