Brendan played four seasons at the University of North Carolina. He averaged 10.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 2.1 bpg in 141 career outings with the Tar Heels. He finished as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s all-time leader in field goal percentage (.637). He ranks as North Carolina’s all-time leader in blocked shots (304) and field goal percentage, and is the only player in ACC history to lead his school in both categories at the end of their career.

As a senior (2000-01), he averaged 12.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg and 3.63 bpg and was named Second Team All-America by The Sporting News, as well as Second Team All-ACC. He ranked seventh in the nation in blocked shots, and was the only player in UNC history to record 100 or more blocked shots in a single season (120). He recorded the first triple-double in school history with 18 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks (UNC record) vs. Miami (Dec. 4, 2000). He led the nation in field goal percentage in 1999-2000, shooting .697, the highest single-season percentage in ACC history.
